Working Excel spread sheet into HTML

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to convert a working excel spreadsheet into HTML. So that the fields can be changed and values be updated automatically. The current html converter in excel doesnt have changable fields.

Or even using forms and pull down menues which can have formulas built in to gain values.

Any help most appreciated

What I am trying to do is make a storm forecasting spreadsheet to use on the Web, so everyone can have a go.

The spreadsheet I am using has been developed from a friend of mine and is quite accurate in predicting storms for certain areas. It does not plot exactly where a storm is, but it gives an idea of if and how severe storms are. The spreadsheet is fairly tricky to use but I was hoping that some of the figures in the spredshhet could be changed by a drop down menu or something. Then when those figures are changed the values are automatically updated.

The file is located at http://www.saweather.net/forecast/Lendex.xls

Hi Andrew,

I don't think any Excel-to-HTML converter is going to help you convert the formulas in the cells into Javascript or script that runs on the web server (like ASP or PHP).

You have two options:

1) Easy but lazy way: Provide your users the link http://www.saweather.net/forecast/Lendex.xls as a download. They can then use it only if they have Excel installed.

2) Difficult but proper way: Convert all spreadsheet formulas into ASP or PHP functions which run on the web server. You can then use HTML controls (drop downs, text boxes etc) to send (post) parameters to your server-side functions, which then process and create the HTML result on the fly and send it back to your users' web browser. This is how most websites (including this one) work.
