What is a good source of deep cycle batteries

I've recently had a battery collapse after less than two years use. I would have expected more. Can anyone recommend a good source for replacements?

I too have found batteryworld to be quite good.

I recently got a 33AH true deepcycle glass matt battery. It was about $160 I think. But this type of battery is not as sensitive to charging as a gel battery, but still has the advantages of no spillage possible. It is a battery made for electric wheelchairs. Most sealed Leadacid batteries are not deep cycle and if used that way will die very quickly.

I have found this battery to be the best I could find. It is rated to about 1000 full cycles. Most marine deepcycle batteries are rated to around 200-300. So if I only do half discharge cycles then I should get 2000 cycles.

Its very important to charge the battery as soon possible after it is used. Damage is caused if a battery is left empty for an extended period. Leaving it on a trickle/maintenance charger is the best.

Hope this helps, I'm just repeating info I have been told during my research when I bought my battery.

I would go for a AGM against a Gel they tend to be able to take a bit more punishment. Remember you really do need a good 3 or 4 stage charger for proper Deep Cycle management and don't drain your battery down more than 30%

I run a solar-power setup at my caravan (no mains supply). The battery I just replaced only lasted 15 years.

Clive runs his business from his house and has lower overheads. He has been supplying solar-power equipment Australia-wide for the last 20 years that I know of.
