CLS/LP filters for luminance on monochrome CCDs?

Just had this thought today and it hadn't occurred to me before. Anyone use a CLS (or other light pollution filter) for luminance when shooting from suburbia? I tried one for shooting with DSLR, but didn't like the colour cast.

But if it's used for L, then RGB filters used for colour, would that colour cast persist or do you think the results would be different?

The Luminance will only show black and white no matter what filter you put in it.
It is all controlled by the program that processes the separate channels.
That is why you have to put in the right order of the filters in the program.
If you have in your filter wheel LRGB and you point the program to RGBL
Then it will become a nice mess as i have found out once or twice
Hope this helps.

Thanks Martin. I don't think I explained well inmy first post. What I meant was, instead of shooting LRGB, use (CLS)RGB

I know what you meant
The CLS will be your L channel.
For stacking purposes the L channel can be anything, but in the program you take the pictures with, you should still call the Luminance channel the
L channel so the picture gets the information written in it correctly.
The Luminance channel could be purple but the stacking program will still see it as an L channel because of the information in the file and this way it becomes monochrome instead of purple or pink or CLS etc.

Sounds like a plan and should work. Depending on filter if you leave it in for all channels you will be fine. But if you take it out for RGB you may have to refocus.

Ha! I have just this afternoon put my LPR in line to see what happens and then I read your post - I think this should be fine. I hope it stays clear, my setup is a 2" LPR in line with my 1.25" FW - I am going to leave it there for all the channels, will my image back here. Will shoot a target towards the S (I am north of Sydney) and see what happens.
