2)How much am i likely to pay for one.

3)is there a site some where that can show you hoe to make one?

i could possibly build one if i had a pointer,

4)if any one in good working order, that they wish to sell,i would be interested

Chris, i presume if you want to use canon IS binos on it - i would leave the IS on when using it. For cameras i have left it on as well because i usually am not so steady

Garrett optical in the US have a reasonable one here http://www.garrettoptical.com/category-s/54.htm - it is either $60 or 70 US depending on the head, but can carry about 4kg
this one is big enough to use standing if you aren't a giant.

I have the Manfrotto 685B Neotech Monopod + 3229 Swivel Tilt Head. It's too long to carry easily it a backpack. I have ordered the Benro Carbon MC-66 and will transfer the 3229 swivel head onto it and sell the 685B. The MC-66 gets great reviews, folds up nice and short. Got it for around AU$90 on ebay.

Monopod

Gday Chris,,I have a Manfrotto 681B professional Monopod,,At full extension it is 161cm (63.4") and at minimum Extension it is 67cm (26.4") ,,it has 3 sections and only weighs 0.8Kg,,,Made of black anodised Aluminium,,It is an awesome bit of gear Selling at $140 at Madsens in Wollongong,,,
As far as I,S goes,Leave it on,as your hands will still have a small amount of movement,(MINE DO),,The Monopod also has a hand strap that when wrapped around your hand Provides extra Stability,,I've posted a Pic of mine if that helps,,,,,,Mat

The Benro I mentioned above arrived today. Very nice, well made, sturdy, light, short when compacted, long enough when extended. Very happy. Will be putting the Manfrotto swivel head on it when I get home.

Here's a picture of the Tripod/Monopod Head I use,,It simply unscrews from one to the other,,It has a ball & socket type joint,,the bottom is slotted for vertical Adjustments,,By simply squeezing the trigger it can be rotated to any position,,The normal heads require both a horizontal & Vertical screw to be loosened for it to be Re-positioned,,I find this one is perfect for moving targets also,,,Plus it only cost about $60 with the plate for fixing to the camera included,,Hope this Helps,,,,Mat
