SBIG STX Review

Hello everyone.

I have been very quiet on the imaging front this past couple of months because SBIG asked me to beta-test their STX and then latterly, the STX CFW and Baader 65mm filters.

I wrote the report for Astrophotoinsight (www.astrophotoinsight.com) who have exclusive rights to it, so if you subscribe, go get it if you are interested (it was published yesterday).

Happy to take questions.
cheers

Interesting to read your comments about the STX Martin.

How did you go about mounting the STX with 3" fittings? ("custom screw adapters" I found a little cryptic)

I note AstoDon has a 2.7" to 3" adapter as well as a Taka to AP 2.7" did you go down that path or use an alternative?

Hi Peter

I had a custom adapter made to mate the FLI Proline to the Tak FSQ106 drawtube (not CAA). It just so happened that the dimension and screw pitch matched the front face of the STX/CFW, so I used that. Just a lucky outcome really.

Ditto. Keen to know who made the 4" adapter? Precise Parts don't do them... Will ping you a note offline.
