Hesiodus A

I've been looking into an unusual type of lunar crater - the concentric crater.

One of the easiest and best to see is Hesiodus A

The pictures were taken over 3 nights
Hesiodus-A-1 July 21st
Hesiodus-A-2 July 20th
Hesiodus-A-3 July 19th

You can find out more about these objects at

Another concentric crater - Marth.

Taken last night with my 10-inch Dob.

Located not far from Hesiodus A, it measures 7Km in diameter whilst Hesiodus A measures 15Km in diameter.

Hi Marc,

If the pics turn out I would love to see them.
Thanks goodness we have astronomy to keep us sane during these times.

Richard.

Will do. I had to transfer 1.5TB of data from last night to an external drive. I managed to fill up my laptop, SSD and PC. Nearly done now. Made some room ready for tonight to catch Ganymede/Europa occultation. I'm hoping we get sucker holes in the clouds. It's not going to rain until Monday midday on the forecast so I'm pushing it.
