Sky Safari 7 pro

Looks like a new version has come out. Anyone tried it out? Worth the upgrade from ver 6-pro?

It's currently half price. $US25

I would probably buy it if my iOS supported it but my hardware is at its iOS max. Nonetheless SS6 Pro hasn’t failed to remind me of the upgrade every time I start it even though I cannot run the new version.

SS6 Pro does everything I need it to so no real need for an upgrade even if I could. A couple of features I would like though is the ability to have both equatorial and Alt-Az grids on simultaneously (quick toggle on/off of each would be good like in Stellarium app). Also to be able to drag time forward and backward with your thumb or finger (also like in Stellarium app) would be a desirable. Perhaps they are in SS7 or perhaps they cannot copy these features.

What I was alluding to in the previous post is check your platform before upgrading. Apple incorrectly reports that the app “Works on this iPad” on my IPad mini 2 which has iOS 12.5.5 yet SS7 Pro requires iOS 14+.

I believe a refund is possible through Apple if the app doesn’t run because of iOS incompatibility when Apple tell you it’s compatible (at least this was the case so check first). (This happened to me with another App). Not sure if it applies to every app.

Sky Safari 7 Pro is for iOS 14+. See https://skysafariastronomy.com/

Not tried it (I use ver 6 plus).

But I am annoyed by the nagging to upgrade.

From what I could see of the side by side comparison it had nothing to offer.

Regards.

Stay with ver 6 - ver 7 has a much worse user interface than ver 6. I still use version 6 plus even though I bought the pro version of 7.

I also use version 6 and 7 and prefer v 6 interface. Don’t know why v7 changed the menu bar structure so much. I do like v7 information highlight when touching a object however.
