Carbon fibre RC8 + Moonlite Focuser + EAF + More

Hey all,

I'm selling my beloved RC8 with all the bells and whistles attached. A lot of effort went into this setup, and it's taken some great shots, but I'm moving up the RC ranks to a more permanent setup. Comes with:

-Bintel/GSO Carbon fibre RC8 with extension tubes
-Moonlite Large Format RC Focuser, with both 2 inch and 1.25 inch adapters
-ZWO EAF
-Farpoint Dovetail weight with two 3 pound weights
-Farpoint Dovetail Handle

Also including:
-RC Collimation Ring (not needed with the moonlite focuser but might be worth having)
-Original Bintel/GSO Focuser
-Telrad Base
-Bahtinov Mask

All that new would cost around $3200 but I'll be selling it all for $2200. Can pickup in Brunswick, or can ship at buyer's expense.

Honestly I'd have loved to keep this setup but I'm making sure I don't have scopes lying around collecting dust. I've made sure the collimation is nice and dialled in, and took a quick 20 minute (20 x 1 minute exposure) shot of the keyhole nebula to confirm. Keep in mind shots were taken with a TS Optics Field corrector (that I'll be holding onto for my next scope) so you may find some curvature at the edge of the field depending on your sensor size. I've also included other shots I've taken with it.

Hi!

What’s the focal length and f-ratio of this scope? Also what’s the weight?
Also, which TS Optucs field corrector do you use?
Cheers

Hey Rick,

Focal length: 1625mm
Focal ratio: f/8
Corrector: TS-RCFLAT2
Total weight: ~9.5kg with the handle/counterweight attached

You can also purchase .75 RC Reducers from Bintel that would lower it to f/6

Let me know if you need anything else,
Cheers

From Bintel's website: "Bintel’s RCA series feature precision figured hyperbolic primary and secondary mirrors. As it contains no refractive optics there is no chromatic aberration at all – none.
Primary and secondary mirrors are low thermal expansion quartz substrate with durable, high reflectivity dielectric coatings (>99% reflectivity across the entire visual spectrum)."

Hi

How old is the scope?
What are the back focus requirements?
How flat is the field in your sample with APS C size sensor? without FF
How is the attachment made to the moonlight focuser to an astro camera and filterwheel combo (m54)

Thankyou

Replied via email but also good to have it here:

-Approximately 5 years. Original owner only used 3 times by the time I picked it up last year
-254mm from the rear cell. In this case it only uses a single 25mm extension with the moonlite focuser to achieve focus
-Field was still pretty flat with an asi2600. I mainly used the field flatener to get the most out of the scope and tighten the stars around the edges and in my oag.
-Just a standard camera adapter in the 2 inch compression ring is what I use
