First proper Rosette

NGC 2244 The Rosette nebula in Monoceros
i wasn't going to post this as Stephane's earlier image is so cool.

4 hours of 2 minute unguided subs
i was lazy and threw all my subs into DSS so there are a few oval stars in the image.
Just to see what came out really as i only ever had 10 minutes on this one.

SW Ed80 achromat (old blue type)
AZEQ6pro
ZWO 533pro + L-extreme
ZWO asiair v1
Bortle 6-7 Perth

Nice Rosette Tony.

Don’t hold back on posting just because you thought someone else’s image was better. You’re on your own journey and these forums are supposed to be places where you can share that journey.

The oval stars you are referring to are pointing out toward the corners. Do you have a field flattener ? If you do you may need to check the spacing to your camera.

Great effort Tony and keep them coming

Cheers

Ryan

Tony as Ryan says, post anything you like, and yours is quite a good effort if i may say so.

Don't be fussed about the very experienced astro photographers here, we all had to start from scratch.

Mate yours is a top shot from the imaging you described, well done.

Leon

Thanks for your kind comments guys, i appreciate it immensely.
I have yet to acquire a field flattener Ryan, that's on the list of 'to get' stuff. A list that seems never ending

That explains it then. It’s good to see that so early on you have learnt that the “ to get “ list is never ending. That never stops

Tony!! That’s an awesome image, and I honestly think it’s as good as mine if not better. My colour calibration was slightly off giving that blueish-grey center. When I chose a different white reference I got a classic pink rosette, but I actually prefer the fake colour. Funny how yours turned out so similar!

Great effort. Can’t wait to see your future images.

Regards,
Stéphane

This is a really dumb question, but what tool did you use to sign your image? I’m trying to see if there’s a way I can scan a paper signature in white and add to my image. The signature obviously protects the image, but adds a nice touch too 👍🏻

I just did a few signatures on white paper, then scanned the paper and neatened it in Photoshop and inverted the result so that it was white on black then i saved it as a layered photoshop file with the background turned off and the signature as a separate layer in 'lighten' layer blend mode at 20% opacity.
i just drag this layer over to my astro image and job done. it may need the opacity lower or higher depending on the image.
there's probably much easier ways to do it but i am self taught regarding Photoshop

Thanks Tony for the helpful tip. I might try something similar.
