QHY 8 OSC CCD camera

After a long hiatus decided to get my ccd camera out that had been siting idle for nearly 8 years (in case with dissecants) back on the scope alas not to be what used to work flawlessly under Win 7 now has issues which I don't know whether they are hardware of software related. I can fire up the camera have it recognized under EZCap, the camera appears to be taking images in the live preview mode but would fail to distinguish between dark and light exposure no matter what settings I used for gain and offset or the histogram stretch, at a wits end here reloaded all the early drivers etc checked cables spend ages on it but to no avail. Did have it sorted of working once where the camera would go from dark to light in the view window as it took the lens cap off and moved it around (the histogram would also change) but nothing now even using the same setting when it did. Anyone out there shed some light on the problem or should I just send the camera off for a service to Hong Kong

Is it cooling down?. EZCAP should report the drop in temperature. If not the DC101 TEC unit could be faulty or the 12V power pack supplying power to it.

I had a similar issue with my QHY12, no images until I realised the TEC cable was not pushed in all the way into the camera.

Sounds like the TEC is working OK.
The only other thing I can recommend is contacting QHY tech support and see what advise they can offer.

I've got one of these. It could be a bad connection with the small DIN plug in between the usb and the power. What do you get on screen when you do a 1min exposure with the cap on? Also check you get the correct voltage out of the power.

Hi

The small DIN plug between the USB-B and Svideo (camera power) connectors powers the TEC which comes on OK, but I measured it anyway its 12.34v ???

Cheers

Apparently even if its a chip error the service deport in Hong Kong advised they can no longer get the chip for a QHY8 OSC camera

Trevor,

My old QHY8 doesn't work properly with the latest version of EZcap but works well with an older version.
