Sky Scan 2001 mount

HI All.

I am hoping someone might be able to help me.

I recently picked a second hand Saxon 4" F10 refractor on a "Sky Scan 2001" mount. I partly bought it because the equipment I have (a 14" f7 dob and C6) are both on alt-az mounts and I thought I might be able to use the equatorial mount (just mount a camera on the provided camera mount) to dabble in a bit of astrophotography before I take an (expensive) plunge, but I haven't been able to find any info about the mount.

I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on this mount, for example, is it equivalent to an eq1 or eq2 or whatever, as it is possible to buy single axis motor drives for these for only $50- or so.

If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.

Thanks, Michael

These are Skywatcher EQ3 mounts. A step up from terrible, but not much of a step. There used to be a GOTO kit for these, but long discontinued. You can get a belt drive mod that includes the motors and controllers etc for about $400.

Quite a bit of info around actually (when you type in Skyscan 2001): https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=sky...=v223-1&ia=web

If it's an EQ3 mount, RA axis motor still available to order from Optics Central - link
