NGC1365,1386 & 1369 in Fornax

Hi crew,
I spent three successive evenings trying out my newly setup obs on the Great Barred Galaxy along with NGC1386 & 1369 and found there to be various other smaller galaxies hiding in the frame.

Just over 2 hours worth of integration using a combo of ISO 800,1000 and 1200 guided subs using UV/IR Cut filter with the 60D.

Note to self - Shield residual light from computer and monitor screen glow and led strip lighting! (this totally played havoc with gradients in the resulting image) and gee this camera gets hot with longer subs now!! 33deg internal temp!!! Crikey.

Plenty of fun getting to know the running of computer driven data aquisition whilst being in relative comfort of my roll off roof obs...

Cheers everyone and Merry Christmas...

Thanks Pkay-
I found Stellarium has an option to enter you scope details in order to create an image scale to help frame your target- this way you can see what you can fit in and the angle to maximise the objects prior to capture. It saves time trying to do this on the night of imaging that’s for sure.

This galaxy requires plenty of exposure to reveal the finer details being a low mag object - and backyard skies hampers the signal also: Happy with the result.

Cheers
Anthony

Nice collection of galaxies there Anthony, dominated by Ngc 1365 which is the 'star' of the show. Great result from light polluted skies!
