Lagoon

Took this last night, still getting used to this new camera and different processing software than I’ve usually been using.
Obviously the lagoon nebula, 35x5mins.
8 inch newt, asi533mc.
Stars are surely in a funky way, think my focuser might be a bit out of whack.
Anyway, all a learning process.

Steve,
That’s a nice M8 Lagoon
Just squeezed the main part of the object in with that 533 ( square sensor )
Some observations if I may ( only my opinion)
Colour looks a bit heavy on the green side , can’t see any blues in the image , bit more of a colour balance might help
Your Star field in the central region is fine , nice round stars , but in the corners your stars exhibit what looks very much like Coma. Are you using a coma corrector ? If not I recommend the Baader MPCC Mk3. Eliminating coma is a bit tricky even with the coma corrector, you may require additional spacers as my Newts required 56mm instead of 55mm from sensor to coma corrector to eliminate coma. Each scope is different
Well done !!
Martin

The blue seemed a bit lower in startools but there is only bias reduce sliders.
No to crank the blue up. How do I do that?
Is it a case of lowering the red and green to below blue then upping saturation? Or is there other controls within to do that?

Depending on what Style and LRGB Method Emulation your using in the colour module of Startools , based on a Bias Slider Mode of “Sliders Reduce Colour Bias” try your Red slider around 2.0 to 2.5 , your Green slider to 3.5 to 4.0 and your Blue slider to 1.50 to 1.80
The above is only a guide but should dampen your green core area of M8 to a more turquoise or blueish colour , however the reds will be more purple red than deep red
Subtle changes in the colour bias does provide more control
In addition, try the presets at the top Constancy and Legacy as well
Saturation amount usually works best at default 200%
Bright Saturation I never go above 5.0 to 6.0
Dark Saturation I never go above 4.0
Hope the above helps

Great shot! If I were asked to give feedback, I'd say Coma as well as color correction can do a bit of work. But good shot nonetheless.
