M17 27min with Meade 12in ACF StarTools

Hi all
A couple of versions of 54x30s of M17 at high gain, 0degrees, with QHY410c and Meade12in.
Capture with SharpCap pro, stacking in ImagesPlus and processing in StarTools. One with AutoDev twice and one with FilmDev - quite a difference.

From Gold Coast in poorer seeing.

That's an excellent image Glenn, the structure of the nebula can be seen.
I have imaged same but couldnt get the details too show, perhaps my exposures of 3min is to blame. Anthony

Yes I know what you mean. I thought it was the effect of bad seeing.

Well I think you have done very well for even good seeing. Well captured.

Nice work! I reckon with better sky conditions you may see an improvement in clarity but even so there’s some lovely detail revealed. I’ve always found high gain settings can lead to some star bloat which requires a lot more processing work with star reduction etc, perhaps with a 12” sct it might be better with a lower gain settings?
