Anyone with a TSO refractor?

Hi all, just after some info on TSO scopes. Im looking for a small corrected refractor, and the link below seems perfect for what I want:

https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop...ure-f-4-4.html

Looks good as a triplet, and it comes with a corrector. Leaves 1.7mm space between camera and flattener, so a "slim' adapter would be needed.

Just interested to hear of any experience from members who might have a TSO scope?

Erik

It looks like a Sharpstar rebadged?

There is also a new William Optics 91mm scope on their site.

Greg.

Looks the same Greg, but the specs are a bit different. I think because the TSO site list it with the flattener and altered FL? I managed to find a few similar scopes, and some appear re-branded, Tecnosky, Askar, TSO.

Sharpstar is just a marketing brand name, manufactured by
Jiaxing Ruixing Optical Instrument Co.

The Teleskop Services scopes (TS Optics) are also a house brand , they source from a couple of Chinese factories, which build to their specs. You can often find different brand that appear cosmetically identical but have optical or mechanical differences..

Many refractor brands are very much like modern guitar brands, badged by retailers but built in Chinese other SE Asian factories on the same line as their competitors.

My TSO refractor which I purchased around 2014 came with a sharpstar brand stamped on the lens rim. The only TSO branding anywhere on it is on the dew shield. For the price of import, in my mind, you might as well source one from a local dealer. The scope itself though is fine, just not what I had thought I was purchasing. The guys did custom fit a feather touch focuser on it though, so they can customize your scope as needed.
