Neat outdoor cover for scope setup

Haven't posted for a while, so thought I'd try a product recommendation. Following on other recommendations here for barbeque covers from Bunnings being useful outdoor scope covers, I found this "Kettle bbq" one is really suitable for my tripodded AzEq6 plus C8/Hyperstar with side by side mount as shown in the photos.

I leave the tripod and mount outside on my front verandah for easy happy snaps of the southern Bortle 2 skies here in my little valley. Simply throw a towel over the rig for condensation protection, then the cover slips over like a tea cosy, or other unmentionable slip ons, and has a drawstring at the bottom for wind protection. Works well and total cost of new towel and cover is about $30.

The pics give an idea of capacity.

Well done, looks good!
I use a Bunnings Patio chair cover with the HEQ5 seem to last about three years.

I like the look of that. I’ll give it a try.

By the way, you have a great outlook for your scopes.

Me too! I am using a Proastoz cover as well but this Kettle BBQ cover seems to do the job (and probably more robust) for less than half the cost…

Something to pickup from Bunnings once the dreaded lockdowns end. Hope everyone is doing well and keeping sane…

Nice!

I broke down and got myself a Telegizmo 365. Just slightly more expensive than the Bunnings option. (but it does appear to be a quality product)

For the price of the Telegizmo I could have gotten about 10 of these

I went down the route of the Geoptik. I did use my BBQ cover for 6 months just for the mount but now I leave the refractor on as well and the Geoptik keeps it cool as its in full sunlight.
