240 vlt drop down for EQ8

I cant go to the observatory now or in the morning before I go to town and that is where my manuals etc are...I want to get a 240 vlt drop down to 12 volts for the EQ8 when I go to Lismore tomorrow..( actually for eq5 and eq6s as well....I cant for the life of me recall the perfect amps and seem to remember going a smidge higher than what the manual said..I cant even recall the amps...anyways please guide me with my purchase...I am assuming whatever I buy will plug straight in...I have no recollection and given I have 4 mounts ( 2 eq6, eq5, eq8) that I am sure all take the same power I cant believe I have no idea...mmm maybe I have just been running off a battery for a long time..(I used to run off 240) but I want everything starting at 240 vlts. as now everything is near set up the batteries are a long way away so 240 vlts is preferrable.

Alex,
I’ve used Startech 7.5 amp 12V Power Adapters ( 240V AC to 12V DC ) for my EQ6-R in Sydney and EQ6-R down south in the NexDome
I use 3 off them at each site and they have been running flawlessly for over 3 years without failure ( that’s 6 units in total )
1 for the mount
1 for the camera
1 for the dew heater unit
Model no MP3575 available from Jaycar and Bintel and possibly other suppliers ( Cost $45 )
I just changed the cigarette plugs to Heavy 15amp duty type ( they come with10amp ) some folk use Anderson 12V plugs or other 2 pin HD 12V plugs

The Startech 7.5 amp Power Adapter will run your EQ8-R mount , no issues

You may want a more sophisticated power supply but these things just work and I’ve had no issues at all ( I bought a spare unit for each site but never had to use it , so far )
Cheers
Martin

Thank you very much Martin that really helps.

Can I ask one other favour..I bought a small printer for the sole purpose of printing all your excellent notes ...

I had made a list but somehow deleted them during a " tidy up" and ask if you could list them for me...links.

Everything from computer controlling the mount to auto guiding...anything really...I have bought a ream of paper and call today at office works to pick up more ink that they ordered in for me.

And that transformer is perfect in that it has a cigarette lighter fitting because I know I have the other bit to get power into the mount..it will not be permanent but it will be handy during setting up while I consider my options and find those Anderson connectors that I put somewhere...all good ...thanks again.

Alex, local supplier Testar has this power supply that should be suitable. You could try you mates at Bintel as well.

I’ve heard from a mate these have had problems above a certain ambient temperature ( hot days or nights )
The Startech ones have a big thermo fan , I’ve run them all night at 30C + no issues
Just thought I’d mention that , they are probably fine but I’ve stuck with the Startech ones for years and years
Thanks for helping

Alex,
Correction .....

“Powertech” brand not Startech brand for the power supply

I often get the 2 mixed up because I use both brands

Apologies

Alex, the Powertech brand, sold by Bintel, does have a fan. I have used it for over five years to power my CGX mount and other gear. No issues at all.
In stock at Bintel, $45.

Thanks to everyone.
I purchased the unit Martin suggested to get things rolling and was going to order the other unit from Bintel but I was just so busy I did not have time...
