Celestron Evolution 6 and 8?

Hi does anyone know if the mount and tripod for the [Celestron Evolution 6" and 8" telescopes are exactly the same? The reason I ask is I was thinking to buy the 6" and later if I wanted get an 8" OTA and switch over, but I want to be sure the mount could handle that?

Hello,

If you go to celestron.com.au, they have the piccies and specs for both. Quick look is the mount is different in appearance only. Specs places the mount head(7kg), tripod weight(5.44kg), instrument load capacity (11kg) etc the same for both packages.

There is only 1.1kg difference between the two scopes total weight package as well, the 8" at 5.44kg takes a lot of capacity if you want to keep the loading to under 80% and run imaging .

Yep, the tripods are the same.

I used my 9.25" on the lighter tripod also and it holds fine, just don't overtighten the bolts on the legs (as I did).
