Not surprising. I haven't seen a Meade telescope in a few years. I think it was the 2017 SPSP (tbf the last one I went to). Been to at least 30+ odd monthly gatherings and despite new and old people coming and going haven't seen one since. Their supposed top tier imaging refractors are just Chinese bulk built refractors with Meade written on it with a crayon and a 50% mark-up.
This whole time I've been wonderings who's buying their products?
Guess I know the answer to that now.
I still remember drooling over the LX200 ad's in Sky and Telescope Magazine for years. But, coming to the realisation they are too expensive and too heavy. Why buy a LX200 12" when you can get a CPC 1100? Which was lighter and cheaper, is what I thought. I never got a CPC1100 either though.
Just not enough new blood with disposable income to support both Crestron and Meade in the market place. Hope Orion can work something out.
