NGC1365 - LRGB Ha O3 Ver2

Now that Marc is on my case, time to put the head down (again).

Going back to the LRGB image, I applied a range selection mask to the galaxy and inverted it.

After using histogram transform, I was totally blown away at the detail revealed.

Bright coloured stars, contrast and other interesting bits...

The next step adding the Ha & O3 was same as before.

You gotta love this game

Looks better Peter. You can start seeing details and colors in the core. I'm not on your case mate. That's big Mike's job.

RIGHT! ...ok, now listen here fella!

Seriously now....nice result, on what is one of the most photogenic, non local group, galaxies out there Does look a tad soft to me? Perhaps it could do with some extra sharpening? ...but hey, I had a work mate up at Eagleview recently, a complete novice, first time ever telescope viewer (lucky guy given the site quality!)...and even his virgin observing eyes could instantly see the two main arms of this galaxy and its central bar, through my 12 inch Dob, he said "Looks like one of the S's in a Nazi SS symbol" (good description) it looked amazing!
