observatory flat field panel

rather than spend a couple of grand on a flat field light panel i put this together for a total of $46. i can turn it on and off remotely. i just want to get something to go over the front to diffuse the light and bring the brightness down a bit but other than that, works great

this is made up by using a light panel bought off ebay and a TV stand i was given for free. the TV stand is a little overkill but hey it works well

Good idea. It looks like a standard whiteboard, I am wondering if a whiteboard would work as long as there was no reflectivity?

the problem with that is you cant control where the light is coming from, it might work well but then again, you will probably end up with a gradient. the light panel was not expensive at all and is big enough to cover my 14.5" when it comes.

i got the idea when i went looking for options and saw Optec selling theirs for around 2K aus, crazy stuff

Hi Aidan,

I ended up getting this flat panel too but it has a clear grid pattern (darker) in the centre. How did you get around that?

I used a couple of sheet layers to diffuse and dim the light, it has worked really well for me.
