I miss Hugh Esmond

Hi,

For those of you who knew Hugh Esmond, you’ll know that the world is poorer for no longer having him on it. I miss him being around as a human being but please don’t judge me harshly when I also say I also miss my go-to guy to make any adapters I needed. There was nothing he couldn’t do. I loved the fact that I could hand him the entire imaging train and it would come back all finished and working with the correct distances etc. Gosh, how spoilt all those who went to him with these types of requests were.

I have an Esatto 3.5” focuser which I need to attach to my FLT 120mm (replacing the existing WO focuser of course). The image train would also have the WO flattener iii and a WO 6200 and WO 7 pos 2” filter wheel.

The added complexity is that the Esatto 3.5” has only 1mm of so of focus travel so the distance has to be accommodated I.e. to be very close to focus by default. The flattener also needs to be at the correct distance.

If you’re reading this Hugh, I know you’ll be laughing but it is all way, way beyond my capability to do.

Is there anyone, especially in Brisbane that shares Hugh’s flair with aluminium and precise distancing that can help? I’m not expecting anything for free of course because without it I have the most expensive door stop in history.

Someone please come to my rescue.

I have a contact of someone in Perth who gave me great confidence he can make what I need.

I still miss Hugh being around though.

My recommendation is to contact Joshua Bunn (if you have not done so already):
