TV and Receiver Issue some help maybe

Hi Guys,
I will make this as short as possible, but I need to ask, "How do i make my TV talk to my Sound Surround Receiver please"

It is a system that I have had for some time and has been stored, however all other functions are fine, it will play DVD, play Music and Tuner, but the TV doesn't want to talk to the unit.

All connections are HDMI but the TV will only have sound through its own speakers.

I have a Orange Coaxial Cable Jack on the TV and the Receiver but have no cable for that so could this be the problem.

It is no big deal as the setup is in our Studio area but it would be nice to get it to talk through the Sound Surround.

If it is the cable could someone suggest which one I might need please.

Thanks in advance.

Leon

Smart TV's will typically have a Sound setup menu where you select the
sound output. It may be set to internal speakers in which case look for
a HDMI Arc output selection or if you did have that optical cable,
select optical.

My Panasonic has only optical cable for sound out , so if you cannot use that or a conversion unit, you cannot output sound without the optical cable.

Thanks Guys, I will check it out and get back to you sometime.

Rb, I still get sound mate but from the TV speakers only not the Surround Setup, don't worry I will get there.

Leon

By the way Gary you mention Smart TV's, well mate this thing is not quite that smart, it was born well before that time, but it serves me well
and it is only set up for the occasional use in the Studio when we are in there, all the Smart stuff is in the main house

Hello,

Worst comes to worst, take the sound out from the TV headphone socket to your rca jacks if possible. Not the best sound but the cable is a few bucks and get you going for now.
