Paypal on Ebay

Hi
I have an account with Paypal and have been using it via Ebay for years to buy various stuff. Now I find that you have to log on to Ebay, then select Paypal for payment but can someone tell me how you then progress to actually paying via Paypal? The net provides a lot of conflicting and confusing information - but perhaps that's just me?

Make sure you dont have popup blockers on in your browser
It automatically redirects you to paypal.

eBay has moved away from using PayPal as the default payment mechanism. All eBay users should have been e-mailed about having to register a bank account to be able to sell, in order that buyers can use managed payments (via eBay and back-end payment processing company, Adyen, that will deposit sale funds directly into your account). The benefit is supposed to be lower transaction costs.

From the point of view of a buyer: Your seller may not offer PayPal as a payment option since it's no longer mandatory (and in some categories, never was). Having said that, every listing I've looked at in the last few days still has PayPal. The change-over is still rolling out.

As for selecting PayPal - if offered, it should be in the Checkout page after you select to buy.

Thanks
Nikolas - I checked that I do not have popup blockers.
Dark Arts - I will have another go at the new Ebay procedure. There must be something simple to direct me to payment with PayPal as it is offered as a payment method.

Cheers Peter

Should be straight forward, as long as your pay pal account has been sorted. ie
(which account you use for payment)
I’ve bought gear for years off eBay and websites, they should automatically redirect you to PayPal once you select it . I’ve only had one problem on a website and they said it was probably the web browser I was using.
Just didn’t buy from them!
Cheers!

Wonder if this has something to do with the buyer protections that are offered on PayPal. Would be interesting to see their terms.

Hi

I used ebay / paypal yesterday, no problems. I didn't pay enough attention to the exact steps to be able to help much. I just selected PayPal as the payment option when the options came up.

Ebay has been switching to a seperate window for PayPal payments to be made for quite some time.

Philip

Added 4-July, I used Safari on a Mac this time.

Yep buyer protection.

On this site however I trust those who I purchase from and those who I sell to so it's bank transfer to avoid fees.

Maybe change your browser.
I use Maxthon, and Paypal stopped working on it with Ebay a few months ago - as the Paypal pop-up stopped popping up.
When I use Edge, all works like it used to.

I don't get the Log Into Ebay screen often - sometimes when I access some other part of Ebay. Maybe you haven't clicked "Stay Signed In On This Computer". I notice that setting sometimes gets turned off after either a Windows or Antivirus update.

I always earn the Qantas points on Ebay purchases, and make sure I use an international fee-free card for the overseas purchases on Paypal, as I hate the 3% credit card surcharge, on top of the Paypal lousy exchange rate.
Regards,
Renato

Pay Pal

Had a very interesting incident with Pay Pal recently, last week had a phone call from PP in Sydney claiming that I was overdrawn by $400+ Had bought an item online for that amount and checking My bank A/cc $400+ was still in My A/cc. They had actually paid the seller without deducting from My PP A/cc.

eBay owns PayPal.

It's the first payment option listed and the one they prefer, but have a lot of payment options.

When you checkout, eBay opens a pop-up to complete the transaction.

Yeah, that is right, but the US Government and most of the world government told eBay they had to separate their business's about 5 years ago.
