RE-Making light boxes

HI

Just wondering if anyone has any info/links for making home made

soft light boxes.I used to make furniture for a living and still have all

tools/work space etc.A friend of mine is an electronics technician,

and i need some portable lighting,i did see someone had made some-

and a good job too,so i feel i could make some,afew pointers would be

handy to start,so any help most appreciated.

Chris, I have made about 25 of them now, mostly for people on IIS. They are quite easy to make but you do need some soldering skills. The preferred medium to build them is 5mm white foam board. As far as illumination, I prefer to use LED's with series resistors placed relevant to the voltage you want to connect to the light box. For example, for a 8" scope light box I use 8 sets of LEDs in parallel and generally use a cigarette lighter connector for the power, ie I run them at approx 12-13vdc. There are a couple of basic tutorials on IIS and one on SCP on how to do them, the one on SCP is my tutorial, but it is quite old now and I have made improvements to the procedure.
