Sun from Melbourne Friday 21/1/2022

Our new Lunt 40 telescope arrived early Friday morning.

These are the images from first light yesterday.
One image was taken with an ASI178MC and the other with an ASI224MC.
We still need to master the etalon tuning and some different image processing but were pretty happy with our first attempt.

These are two close ups using the ASI224MC with a 2.5x barlow.

Well done Clare and Peter. You have recorded some good Ha detail in your images. Nice to see that you found some patches of Sun to try out your new telescope.

Thanks Gerard. Its all a bit of a learning curve at the moment but great fun. Been sunny here for the last couple of days, no clouds at all.

Hi Clare & Peter,

Those are lovely images. Which version of the scope did you get?

Richard.

Thanks Richard. We bought the Lunt 40mm with the B500 (5mm) diagonal filter. From what we had read, the FOV with 5mm was adequate when using small chip cameras which is what we have. Seems to be working well.
