June 2021 Photo Challenge - "LANDMARKS" - Entries Thread

As a bit of fun each month, we run this informal Photo Challenge, it's open to everyone.
No prizes, just the kudos.

This month's challenge, as chosen by last month's winner (jbdave), is "Landmarks"

Have a go! Grab a camera! Submit your entry. Thanks.

The Fine Print:
* This is the Entries thread. Only for posting your entry, and its back story.
* Comments on other entries are not allowed here, but can be posted to the "Comments and Other Images Thread" -> HERE.
* Just to clarify, entries are limited to one image per person. Additional images may be posted to the "Comments and Other Images Thread"
* Of course, the image must be your "own work"
and
* all other normal forum rules, and image size limits, apply.

The "winner" will be determined by public vote, which will be run at the end of the month, and will get to choose next month's topic and have their photo immortalised in our "Photo Challenge Hall of Fame".

Good Luck!

Recently I lost all my photos save those on my phone so with no opportunity of going out and getting something better I submit what some consider a land mark in this region.."The Big Prawn" at Ballina..just a phone snap but that is all I can offer to contribute to the competition.

Landmark

As per Wikipedia:
A landmark is a recognizable natural or artificial feature that stands out from its near environment and is often visible from long distances. In modern use, the term can also be applied to smaller structures or features, that have become local or national symbols.

This immediately came to mind

Princes Pier

The obligatory Princes Pier shot.
I have never been down there, until the other day when I decided to pay a visit.

Iguazzu Falls

A small part of the world's most magnificent waterfalls; over 200 separate
falls spanning 4 klms, steps average 50-60 metres high. Situated at junction
of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.
I've put a pic of another part of the falls in the comments thread.

Inverness Castle

Took this pic of Inverness Castle some years ago while working in the UK. I used my old mid 1950's Voigtlander Vito 35mm film camera which has the sharpest lens I have ever used (lost some definition when scanning the photo and scaling down for IIS}. The river Ness is really quite shallow passing through the city and is a lovely deep blue in colour.

I was doing some long exposure astrophotography but didn't realise the neighbour's rooftop got in the way.

The Grassy Knoll, Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas

Journalist Merriman Smith, riding in the motorcade five cars behind President
Kennedy, reported seeing Dallas Police run up this hill, which he called a
grassy knoll. Some witnesses believe shots came from the knoll area, but
police found no evidence of a gunman.
