Hi everyone

Just a quick note introducing myself. I've been into astro for several years now but the past year or so the wind has been so constant over here in Perth that I'm thinking I might sell my gear as it's just so frustrating waiting the entire winter for clear skies only to be hit with a constant barrage of wind preventing any decent photos to be taken.
But I figured before giving it all a big miss I'd have a look on here and see if anyone has any advice as to deal with wind especially with big scope like C11/RASA 11 which basically act like a huge sail.

Hi Darren,

Welcome to the forum. I think the only real solution you could go for is a well designed observatory in combination with some shrubs / trees as a windbreak, perhaps even a well placed temporary barrier wall or fence if you're more out in the open.

Best
JA

Hello Darren.

Have you looked at the Octans tent? that might help your situation.

I use temp fence from bunnings with tarp strapped to it. It cuts the harshness out of a windy night sadly doesn't completely block it but helps alot

Hi Darren, Roventy,

Welcome to the forum.

Darren, don't sell your gear. The moment you do the wind will stop completely.

Try to convince some windsurfer or kite-flyer to sell their gear instead...
Hang in there,

Neville
