Mount balancing

I was trying to balance the mount and found that when i return to home position with RA clutch unlock, the RA axis shift the west side. When I do balance, the mount was perfectly balance in horizontal position. What I thought was if the mount is perfectly balance it should stay steady in any position. Is this true or am I doing something wrong.

You will probably find the the scope will be balanced "on one side", but when you move it to the other side of the mount (east or west) it won't be balanced. This is because of the finder and any other accessories you have mounted to the tube and is not unusual.

All I try to do with my scope is to get some sort of compromise...a little heavy on one side and a little light on the other, this will try to minimise the loading on the gears.
