Not received anything Pete as yet and consider that this is a no show for me.

I note our images are in the pile of images being promoted but I doubt this means we are winners. Unless you know something else mate.

Not received anything today yet but it is still mid morning at this stage. I have seen some images being named as short listed (telegraph UK) and my solar image is one of them but nothing from ROG yet

Not hold my breath JJJ, going to bed soon and expect nothing. I think that we would have been told by now, especially if the invites are going out today. Then again I got the invite last year and then not long after I got an email about being in the top 5 for my section. It will be what it will be.

Ok some news.

This year all shortlisted persons will be sent an invitation, those will be sent shortly.

Where it has differed from previous years no one will be told if they made the top 5 or not. Everyone will find out on the night who are the winners, runner ups and honourable mentions. So sit tight and wait it out now.

I know this because the ROG team sent me an email to a question I posted on Flickr.

Yeah maybe the reverse this time perhaps. My image gets around every where and then I win nothing.

Yeh I seriously doubt that the selection of 12 images they have shown as finalists are ALL winners, runners up etc, for at least marketing purposes anyway. Why would you show all the winners prior to awarding them so that websites can post them and then post the same ones after the awards night? The media wouldn't be as interested in showing the winners then I wouldn't think. I think they have shown a selection probably to whet the appetite with possibly a winner or two in the mix. Or maybe their media group has selected some speccy images for publicity which may or may not correspond to any that have won awards but look good published, similar to this year's Malins (the photo editor's choice awards). So good luck everyone!

Hi Peter

Saw you at the Australian Museum Eureka awards last week with that fabulous solar image (I assume it is the same Peter Ward).
Well done.

Peter, what you are running up against is the rarity of the photo. Whales mating you can't photograph every day. The Sun in the sky you can (except in Melbourne).

Unusual wins. Add "cute" animals and it's no contest.

An astro image has yet to make the top spot at the Eureka's...sooo the door is still open
