First Light with the new Camera!!!

Hey just a few happy snaps taken between clouds passing over.

The Alpha Centauri shot was the very first of the night.
Unsure weather that is a saturn moon or a distant star.
They aren't processed except for zooming in a bit.

So have a look. Any advise welcome.

The Details:

Taken with a Canon 550D DSLR through a 10 inch Skywatcher Dob

Always a great experience to get those first pics. Well done and welcome to the club!

Nice to see some dob astrophotography going on too. I've seen some amazing pics through dobs so don't be discouraged by all that "must have a GEQ mount" talk!

You'll notice the lengthening of the stars due to our rotation (or perhaps movement of your scope). On a dob you will need to keep the exposure length shorter and compensate by setting a higher ISO.

Each time you go out, do a few at different settings and see what the results are. Each object is different so just keep experimenting.

Cheers,
Carl
