Seems they all come through with tracking defaulting to on when power is applied- not ideal. Here is a link on how to reflash to change this:

https://argth.notion.site/Update-Fir...3bfcf275f9dd9e

I did mine following this procedure and all good.

Gave mine a decent test last night in very warm conditions, average RMS between .5 and .9 as the atmosphere was very wavy. Stars looked great. Only issue was when it went home end of session it was at 90 degrees west instead of up despite having set it at the start of the night and tested i to go home more than three times. Have to investigate further. Also have to check and see if meridian flip worked. ASIAIR was used.

Edit: Meridian flip worked perfectly, now to sort out the Home issue.

Garymck thanks for the link to switch off tracking at start. I have just done mine. Looks like the board has been updated. Mine did not have plug that goes to the brake. It must hsve been spliced into the power lead. My stepper drivers are plug in so would be easy to change for faster ones but we would need the source code to change the setting in the firmware.

mine has the same board as you including socketed stepper drivers. and no seperate lead for the ra brake. The drivers are TMC2209's so won't need to be changed. I also fitted small heatsinks to the drivers "just in case".

I have a Juwei 17 Manual - not a lot there but worth having for reference....

I can't upload it here as it is too big (2.4mb). PM me with an email address if you want a copy and I'll email it to you.

I was happy using it with the asiair, but after the firmware upgrade on the mount to stop it tracking on startup it will now not slew on the asiair despite it working as normal on my laptop using the ascom platform. IS anyone else using an asiair and have upgraded the firmware and now can't slew the mount?

Just tested mine - works perfectly with both Air Onstep options (connected with USB cable, serial 9600 baud).

Did you remember to switch the number 4 switch on the Juwei board back to its original position after flashing?

Update, I started everything again this evening and it all works. I did nothing to it go figure, it may have been a glitch in the matrix or fiddling with the settings when I had it in Ascom.

First and second light with it, the second night after the initial "glitch" was perfect, guiding meridian flip, home etc all worked flawlessly.

Hi!

What tripod I should get that will fit Juwei-17 baseplate?

I just ordered the mount and need tripod. I'm fresh new to all of this so I have nothing yet except Sky-Watcher EvoStar 120ED that will arrive tomorrow
Thanks!

Depends how lightweight/portable of a setup you need

If weight is not an issue, I'd recommend a steel tripod like the SkyWatcher NEQ5 with an adapter

If you need portable (ie carbon fiber):
- Cheap option is a Bexin ST402C
- More expensive option, but worthwhile in my opinion, is an Innorel RT90C or its variants - (Amazon is cheapest currently)
- You would need to 3D print some parts (plate adapter and tripod spreader)
- If you don't have access to a 3D printer or don't want to fuss with it just get a ZWO TC40

Thanks a lot! ARTCISE AS90C looks like the winner!

I ordered smaller brother of RT90C, INNOREL NT404C, also 40mm tube, 30kg load, but mounting plate is not ideal, can be a challenge ... $280 on Amazon AU.

I might return it and get AS90C.

I found Innorel RT90C on eBay AU for $382, only 2 left.
NT404C goes back to Amazon

I do have 3D printer, Bambu A1 Mini, sweet thing. But I'll try to make aluminium backing plate, I think plastic filament is not solid enough. This is the point of max torque ...

Thanks jurkob!
I mated RT90C to ZWO PE200 pier. Ready for Juwei :)
The black insert piece under three bolts and spreader are 3D printed. I modified it a little, holes are now 66mm all the way through. Ask me for STL file.
Bolts are from Bunnings, M6x30mm stainless steel. Center bolt M8x120mm, I had to file off a little from sides of the bolt head to fit it into the plate center hole.

Btw, if anyone wants unmodified insert, for shorter cup-head bolts, I can send it for free, just cover the postage.
