new Sony 247mp medium format sensor

https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/amaz...format-sensor/

2.81 micron pixels. I doubt this will ever show up in an astro camera but it shows where the future is going with Sony sensors.

Sony has a few sensors I don't see being used by ZWO or QHY etc. A 50mp, a 40mp. Some have larger pixels which may suit most imagers scopes beter.

Greg.

Imagine an image file size?
I'm guessing they won't be uploaded here at 200KB any time soon.
My 36.3 Mp (I think) Nikon produces huge images when I start stacking.

I’m stuck with the spinning beach ball thinking about the cost of filters for a sensor with almost 65mm diameter
