windows 7 cs3 and DSS

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get DSS and CS3 to work with the raw files from my 550d. I'm using a new computer running windows 7.
I've updated the raw 8bi file, no success, cs3 still won't open them.
As for DSS, pfttt. It refuses to stack more than one image and it will only show a slice of any particular image that is selected.
Any one else had the same problems? And solved them?

I've tried the "run programs made for previous versions of windows" thingy in control panel.
No luck.

I have no trouble running either of them here nettie but I don't import canon raw files anymore. The other thing to try is right clicking on the icon for CS3 and clicking 'run as administrator'. I can't see why that would help but it might.

ok, the images I'm trying to work on were downloaded straight from the camera
I'll take them off the card and see how they work.
frustrating to have a new camera, new computer and not being able to use them together.

I am not having any issues with DSS on Windows 7 x64, at least nothing to the extent of what you show in the screenshot. I do occasionally get a corner or two which is blank in the final displayed image but this has never impacted the final saved image.

As for CS3 and the 550D, I don't think you can open the .CR2 files directly. I recall reading something about the version of cr2 files used by later cameras can not be read by older versions of Photoshop.

I get the same problem when trying to open the RAW files from my 500D. You will likely need to convert the files to DNG first and then open them in Photoshop.

http://forums.adobe.com/message/3020889 has a little more info.

I just found http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-5...open-raw-files which has some details which may help regarding installing a plugin for Photoshop. I don't have CS3 installed at the moment to test anything though :\

Hi JJJ,

There is a version of DSS that I packaged using a program called Thinapp back in about April. It works on Win7 with no issues. It is on the IIS FTP site.

Thinapp creates the the whole install into an executable, just download and run. Best to uninstall your current version, but it shouldnt be necessary.

Certainly for XP there was one if I recall correctly.
