CGEM mount board and motor burnout.

Hello all,

I have had a Celestron CGEM mount for around five years. In that time two motors and two boards have failed. Each time one motor moves in only one direction, the other is fine.
Since this last breakdown, I have bought a UPS to ensure the 240 in is clean, but I am not convinced that this is the problem. I have balanced it within a mm of its life and still this happens.

Any suggestions while I wait for another board?

Paul Hannah.

Man, that sucks!

My advice would be to join Team celestron, http://www.teamcelestron.com/ Then detail all your dramas. Derik may have the answers your after.

Is it the typically failing Dec motor? Or RA? I have read of Dec issues mainly with these. The CGEM I bought has had one board replaced also

Any commonality of parts with the EQ6? (had one bad board and one bad Dec motor on an NEQ6 too, so it's not CGEM specific).
