August 2022 Photo Challenge - Please Post Your Entry HERE

Each month we run the Photo Challenge.
The challenge is set by the previous month's winner.

The topic this month is “A Tree in Your Yard or Close by.”

Haven't played before? No worries.
We are always on the lookout for new contestants.
So grab a camera, go exploring, and have a go.

The Fine Print:

* This is the Entries thread. Only for posting your entry, and its back story.
* We prefer the entry to have been taken this month but images taken in the past are also allowed if you haven't had the opportunity to take it this month.
* Comments on other entries are not allowed here, but can be posted in the "Comments and Other Images Thread".
* Additional images may be posted to the "Comments and Other Images Thread".
* Entries are limited to one image per person.
* Of course, the image must be your "own work".
* All other forum rules, and image size limits, apply.

The "winner" will be determined in the voting thread, run at the end of the month
and will get to choose next month's topic and have their photo immortalised in our "Photo Challenge Hall of Fame".

Good Luck! and thanks for playing!

Govett's Leap Tree

I took this pic of a tree (and wife) at the nearby Govett's Leap lookout here in Blackheath a couple of years ago. Sadly it had to be removed not long after owing to white ant attack.

Not our current backyard, but a firm favourite in the heart still.

Not 100% sure, but with winter I'd guess the Cooma glow would be around the same area as the rising sun, and barely noticeable at night.

Ps. You can see the effect of the beetle blight in the past decade on the trees around the farm.

Now that's not a Tree, this is a Tree
Took this while farm sitting in NSW recently, apparently it has been dated to about 600-800 years old, got to be a winner

I pilfered my wife's new drone for this one, taken on Sunday.

One of my favourite trees on our property from an angle I don't normally get to see.

The Big tree !

21st Aug. Just taken today - the Big Tree is located in Guildford, Central Victoria near where I live. It is listed as a tree of national significance. It is a River Red Gum estimated at between 500 - 1000 years old. It is over 30 metres high with a canopy of 34 metres and a trunk circumference of 9.35 metres.

Treerific Tangle

Thnx RB,,,

I was reminiscing through achives from the 2003 Cairns Solar Eclipse and this monstrocity maybe more appropriate than the Suburbian Red-Gum,,,!

A 4 portraite panel stitch and the top of image was virtually overhead, sorry I can't remember the species or where exactly was taken, maybe near Port Douglas...
