Leica Service Excellent!

Last year I bought a used Leica Asph Zoom eyepiece here on IIS which turned out to have some tiny spots on one of the inner elements, an issue with a particular batch of eyepieces made a few years ago.

I contacted Leica Australia and described the issue and told them that I had bought it secondhand and did not know it’s age nor did I know the original purchaser…….

To cut a long story short, Leica arranged for the eyepiece to be collected, sent to the factory to be inspected and cleaned and posted back to me … took only 6 weeks, I just unwrapped it to find it pristine with new eyecup and cap included as well

Cost to me $ 0.00

How is that for service !!!

Bear with me on this...

Many moons ago...Friends of my father took their Rolls Royce to southern Spain to do some touring. Unfortunately the differential seized and the car got towed to a small Spanish hamlet. After several phone calls, RR sent a mechanic with a replacement differential across the channel to fix the car. With the help of some local mechanics the job got done in short order.

They continued their road trip without any further drama, but were not looking forward to the repair bill after their return to London.

Weeks passed...still no invoice so they called RR. Their response?
"I'm sorry Sir, there will be no invoice: Rolls Royce differentials simply don't seize-up"

I suspect Leica are equally proud
