I went to see a Partial Solar Eclipse

But only got this crappy view instead.

The penumbral shadow only touched the southern end of NZ but it's still spring so no surprises regarding the cloud antics.

Looking across the southermost coastline of mainland NZ and Foveaux Strait to Stewart Island, our 3rd largest. Bluff Hill on the right marking the treacherous entrance to Bluff Harbour.

From Canberra. We haven't had a clear night for weeks, and that is unusual (la nina, I guess)

I'm just amazed you manage to do any astro in Dunedin. Been there a few times. Beautiful bay though.
