QHY has in the past debayered OSC cameras by request as you can buy a QHY367M but I don’t think they’d be selling a Pro version if it was being debayered if they either weren’t having a native mono version or one where the bayer matrix could be somehow removed without any issues.

I certainly hope not. What about the existing mono models like the QHY600, that does not seem to have a reduced QE.
I would be surprised if Sony did not do this in factory.
Unlikely to be de-bayered as the mono price would be more expensive than the colour version.
As they are both the same price, Sony must have manufactured a mono version of the IMX571 with the microlens intact.
I went digging today when I saw this and still didn't see any reference to a mono version of the sensor anywhere. If I knew that was coming I would look at cancelling my ASI2600MC order in the hope ZWO will be following suit with an MM version.
The Cloud Break page lists it as being an IMX571 sensor, but the page looks like a copy-paste of the 268C page, even the picture is of a 268C. QHY don't list any information about a mono version anywhere I can find.
Yes this camera seems to be a good compromise. The 6200 sounds great with its full frame size but the file sizes and the resulting slow processing would be a pain. My Proline 16803 has 32.775mb images. The 6200 has 122mb, so nearly 4X!
I haven't seen any stand out images from it yet either. I have seen a few that were high quality but nothing other cameras could have captured.
So APS sized could be very nice. This sounds like the same sensor as in the Fuji XT4. File sizes would be 52mb for 1x1.
I like the ability of the QHY versions to select different modes with extra full well depth available in some. That could be handy to keep star colours.
I think I'll be ordering one of these once they become available. ZWO and QHY have both been sold out of the 6200 and 2600 models for ages though. So I expect they will be slow with this as well.
I am hoping I was in early enough to be in the next batch of ASI2600s, which do seem to be producing some pretty nice images, time will tell if I was quick enough.
Paul, instead of cancelling the 2600C, just get them to change the order for a 2600M. As I am sure ZWO will make the same camera as QHY. Then you will be one of the first in the queue.

That is a good question. A hard call. There are plenty of spectacular KAF16200 images. There are also a good number of ASI2600 images.
Having used a 16200 for a few years now I would have to lean towards the 16200. Better star colours.

I am going with the 16200 (which I had decided upon prior to this possible announcement). The pros to me are its a mature, well known camera/sensor with no major surprises, the APS-H size is appreciably larger than APS-C, and I prefer the aspect ratio. Looking at the images produced from the KAF16200, the camera isn't going to be holding me back . Saying that I am sure the IMX571 mono will be great as well.
I would start working out the adapters now so it doesn't sit idle for quite some time waiting for one. Are you going to use your existing filter wheel or get the QHY one?
