Thumbs up Gone Mono - M20+M21 LRGBHa

Finally a clear night to test my new gear & setup! Purchased an ASI294MM Pro, a manual filter wheel and some ZWO LRGB filters from a couple of members here and finally got the chance to test them. The target was M20 - Trifid Nebula & M21 - Webb's Cross. Now I know these aren't the best processed exposures - my first time doing mono so a lot to learn yet - but I was just happy to be able to get it all working together. I certainly need to work out the integration time & exposure length to use for each filter.

L was used just as luminance layer while I combined the Ha & R for the red channel.

L - 55 x 120 sec, R(20) G(15) B(19) x 180 sec, Ha - 9 x 300 sec + 4 x 600 sec.
Total integration time 5hrs 57mins. Was happy to see my small mount get good results out to 10 minutes even with a little breeze around - will try for 20 on the Ha when it's a still night.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks Alex & Alex.

Clear skies are still few & far between, so can't spare any for you Alex.

Thanks guys. Really happy with the extra colour & detail, especially with the dust. Only problem I had was that the data I got after a flip didn't line up with the pre-flip data. So I had to shift the blue & Ha around a little to get it done.

Cheers

Congratulations on your mono setup, Mark. I seriously hesitated between the ASI294MM & ASI2600MC. In the end I took the OSC option. I really look forward to seeing what you can do with this. Looking very, very promising. Well done.

Thanks Stephane. I had actually only been going for an ASI533MC and was about to push the button on it when this came up for sale here at around the same price so I went for it - a bit of a learning curve ahead, if we ever get clear skies...
