Just wait for news of Black Friday violence ... Bargain sales brings out the nutter in some people add that to a country which has a high population of non-secure guns.
Someone on Facebook accused ZWO of doing that - but having been looking at the camera they mentioned (ASI533MC Pro) over the last month or so I can say no, they didn't.
Caught Target doing similar prior to one of their annual sales once (why I refuse to shop at Target any more). Price was $25 for months before their sale. 2 weeks before their sale, price goes up to $35. They then have a "25% off" sale...which brought it down to $26.25...more than even the original price LOL. Never shopped at Target since, nor any Murican owned chains (Kmart, Costco etc). Thankfully, Target has gone from my local area anyway (closed in Queanbeyan ages ago)
Yep, we just needed more Muricanisms... NOT. Like we haven't already eroded enough of our own culture with their BS. It's just another excuse for retail psychology.

I like the ones that say 80% off in huge letters.
When you get up close you can just see in tiny letters -
up to.
I won't say -
I feel sorry for the shop owner -
Covid has hit them hard and they weren't even open today - Black Friday -
to grab those 80% off bargains.
I got an electric shaver today for $99, which is 66% off the genuine RRP, and I didn't even know that it was Black Friday. The stated RRP was very slightly inflated, but what the heck, still a damned good buy.

Heck, I got a 1 litre can of Quikstrip paint stripper from Big W for $4.25 and 2 lots of Araldite epoxy 2 pack syringes for $4.10 on clearance today - does that count?
Isn't it now some other carp like "Cyber Weekend"?
Meh...I am not a retail consumer so it doesn't bother me. Thankfully, I married a lady with the same ideals.
Got dragged into that poophole Costco yesterday by a friend (wife's 40th coming up in a few days) to order a large cake. OMG...all those people thinking they are getting bargains (buying typical American sized assortments of food etc - i.e massive) despite paying the questionable $60 annual member fee. I think a lot go there so they can justify their membership! I found the same products at Woolworths/Aldi at a lower per kilo price than Costco (except WW/Aldi sells them at normal human being packaging sizes). Ordered the cake, departed as quickly as possible.
They certainly didn't have any price that warranted me joining up.
Regarding Costco, as an Uber driver I use a tank of petrol a day so Costco is an absolute Godsend for me. While the regular servos are charging up to $1.89/ltr, Costco petrol is typically $1.50 so my saving is $30 per day - VERY much worth the $60 annual fee 🌟
I don't know how a sale can be a scam; if you make sure that you know the normal pre sale price, and are getting the object far cheaper, win win.
Sure, some retailers increase their price before the sale to make the discount look better, but anybody with an ounce of common sense shouldn't fall for
that one.
