Save a Star Astrophoto Competition

May not be the Royal Greenwich or the Malins, but the judges are international, high quality entries came in from 30 countries, and the winning prize is very nice! Check out the winners here.

Well done Andy, congratulations, what did you win?

I hadn't heard about this comp, some very nice photos in the pool, starless nebulae, seem popular with the judges.

Perhaps I have misunderstood the rules but if not..it seems a little cheeky (or clever, depending on how you see it?) to make the total number of images entered and recognised by an individual entrant, effectively a judging criteria, in other words you need to enter several, or more, images, at $15 a pop, to have a chance...? Or am I miss understanding this..?

Can't say I've heard of these guys or their comp either...but hey, you gotta be
in it to win it.

Kudos to you for the win.

Thanks everyone!
I ran across this on Instagram and thought at just $15 a pop it was well worth entering a few images. I understand this is the first year the comp was held.

My prize(s) are in USD - Grand Prize Astronomy Photographer of 2021: One (1) Astro modified Canon R (MSRP $1,800); One (1) Canon RF to EF adapter (MSRP $200); One (1) Astro Filter Set (MSRP $700), One (1) Irix Blackstone 15mm f/2.4 wide angle lens (for Canon, Nikon, Pentax) (MSRP $675); One (1) hot shoe mounted USB rechargeable laser (MSRP $70); (1) Adobe Photography Bundle License (MSRP $120); One (1) Hahnemühle $150 Gift Card; One (1) PhotoPills license (MSRP $10); One (1) Tenba DNA 9 Black Messenger Bag (MSRP $130); One (1) Bay Photo 16 x 24” Metal Print (MSRP $100); One (1) Save a Star Foundation Member Bundle (MSRP $35)

The camera, adapter, lens & filter combo is about A$5k alone - so happy days!

Well done Andy,

Thanks for sharing,

Some very nice images to add to the memory bank. The more images i study the better those faint fuzzies are rendered at the eye piece!

Edit: Wow, a great bag of prizes! Congrats again!

Martin & Warren - my thanks!

Co-incidentally your avatars both represent significant times of my life - I'm a huge Star Trek fan, and I used to love Captain Scarlet as a kid - so that's very cool!
