Finally got a nice clear night, so set the GSO RC8 on the veranda AzEq6 to star check the short OCAL alignment of both mirrors and focuser tilt I did a couple of months ago.
Pleasantly surprised to see that the out of focus star donut was not off by that much, considering the cursory alignment I previously did with OCAL.
Donut pic below was after about 2 minutes of secondary mirror adjustment, and second pic shows focussed star. There is still some tilt probably due to my rearranging the rear spacers etc, but overall quite satisfied with the OCAL as a primary means of setting up the RC8, with the mandatory final star test for fine tune.
Presently doing some 300s subs on ngc3503 just for fun, will post them in a follow up.
