Christmas Dreams
Hello All,
For a bit of fun, and following on from a few recent posts, I thought I would ask for people thoughts on a Christmas spending spree...
Minister of Finance has approved a $5,000 budget for your Christmas present... However, they want to see a complete setup for either AP or Visual use(min. 2 ep's), the AP side does not include your laptop/software etc. Also if you choose an AP setup, you get an extra $1,000 as you have something MoF can post!
With the bank account swollen and before "material market manipulation" ruins prices even further... what do you buy?
Steve
To make it a little more useful, can you please list the Australian site for your large purchase items...
Ie:
Visual/Ap mix
SW EQ6-R Belt driven - $2500 (ozscopes)
300mm F5 newt - $1200 (Andrews)
EP - Baader MK-IV - $375 (Astro Pete) - ES 30mm 82 degree - $480 (proastroz) - Powermate x2.5 - $350
$100 left over for a light blue filter, ND/Moon filter or simlar.

$5000? Doesn't get much of anything these days. A decent second hand Tak will eat that
Given those restraints, an Esprit 100 and give her the change

Ok, I was starting this with a beginner's track in mind, after you had bought your first cheap setup and decided to invest further.
For those who are already well invested, what one item would you get up to $5,000.
However it needs to be new and available in Australia.
Steve
Second hand is too varied, I saw a 16" goto orion for $100 in gumtree, was an hour too late... Always wondered if it was a breakup sale...

New mount. iOptron CEM70 @ sidereal trading. ~$4600.
Or even better a more expensive second hand one at a good price (even though you said no 2nd hand). I should've started with that instead of multiple scopes and various cameras and other gear.

Skywatcher EQ6-R and SkyWatcher Esprit 80mm Super APO will end up ~4.5k. Spend the remaining on ZWO ASI183MM + FW + Auto Guider + OAG + EP. It'll be tight...
