Pier build - Vic

Hi guys,

Im looking to get a pier made to my spec & not an off the shelf excellent but expensive pier.

Any tips? Or anyone know someone who can source, cut, weld & drill steel in Vic?

Also, looking for CNC machining for the eq6r pier adapter.

Have diagrams & can draw up CAD files where needed.

Thanks,
Andrew

I went through a similar exercise up here in Cairns. I got quotes from a couple of fabrication / machine shops to make a pier that I could attach an HEQ5 short extension pier and mount on. This design was to give sufficient clearance between the pier and counterweights up here in Cairns at latitude approx 16.5 degrees, as well as avoiding the "rats nest" used in many designs.

The machine shop did everything including materials procurement and painting.

I used off the shelf materials and scouted around for suppliers that would likely have offcuts rather than have to buy in materials to fabricate what I wanted

That looks really neat. Avoiding the rats nest for aesthetics or is there another reason i should avoid that design also? Also, is the pier filled with anything, any issues with vibration being quite high up? Thanks, looks fantastic though.

I designed the pier top with a 50mm hole in the centre of the top to allow me to fill it with sand if vibration was a problem but I haven’t experienced any vibration in operation so haven’t filled it. Whilst the avoidance of the rat cage design is mainly aesthetic it also allowed all face to face bolted joints to minimise vibration risk.

Thanks Josh for your offer. Attached the EQ6R Pro pier adapter that I'm looking too get made up. PM me how much that might cost?

The M10 & M12 holes are just bolt clearance holes so 11mm for M10 holes & 13.5mm for the M12 hole.
