Hi kosta,

What scope are you using presently? To give you some idea we need a bench mark aperture to give the comparison.

A good lot for planets ect.. , anything 8" and over does a nice job. They don't give that much over a 10" but over an 8" they do. A 12" is a nice scope and you should get a ton of good views. Youtube and google images will show you the results, you really can't put it into words what you can see unless you were saying against planet A. and scope B., just as Stephen stated above. You have really asked the question of is a million dollars alot of money? To most people yes but a lot of others no.

Anyhow you should be able to see planets sharply and crsip, as for neb filters really help along with training your eyes Anyhow google images and 12" telescope should show you what to expect for different targets Really youtube videos would be alot better because your not talking about long exposures if you mean by see

same question but for an 8" here http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...945#post884945

Hi Kosta,

This is Saturn through my 10" dobsonian using a 2.5x barlow and 9mm plossl eyepiece

And this is Jupiter through my 10" dob using 9mm plossl and 2.5x barlow

Both videos were taken with my canon powershot A495 camera held up to the eyepiece.

Hi Kosta,
with my bintel 12"dob i can see ngc5128 hamburger galaxy and i can also see orion nebula with my eye as well as i can image it with my 127mak and a 60sec exposure iso 6400. not so blown out in the middle though

planets with the extra magnification Given good conditions with filters, are very detailed( cassini? division in sat rings no problem) but slow motion control at high mag is an issue. a goto base would rock.
I love my big dob and i recon they are well worth their little price tags.
