Delrin Shims for EQ6-pro rebuild

Hello all,

I am chasing a supplier of Devlin washers/shims that are in need of replacing in my mount.
I followed the astrobaby tear down instruction and would like to hypertune it using their method. The shims disintegrated upon removal so will need replacing.
I have contacted Doug as suggested on the page but sending them from the states has proved unreliable. 2 orders and 6 weeks later, my mount still sits in pieces, waiting for these stupid bits of plastic.
Does anyone know of an Australian supplier?

TIA

Hi

What I have is probably no use, but, I have sheet teflon, ~1mm thick. Shims could be cut from it.

Delrin is significantly harder, so teflon is probably not a suitable replacement.

Let me know if you would like to try.

Thanks for your reply but the material by itself is of no help, really. I don’t have means to machine them to the right specifications.

Thanks Philip,

I figure I’ll give it another week before I source Teflon sheet. I know others have used it and apparently it should only affect the longeavity of the shims. For the hypertune I believe I require 0.3mm increments so not sure how I’ll go with sourcing that.

Appreciate your help

Hi Mick,

If you search Engineering Plastics Suppliers you will find many listed around Melbourne. Some also offer machining.

Best
