New Scope recommendations

Hi all.

Im looking at adding a second scope to image with for deeper targets but don't want to sell a kidney for a big refractor.

I've previously owned an RC6 and RC8 but the collimation on them was always such a pain and without the reducer they were very slow.

If i wasn't to go for the RC again, I was thinking an imaging newt.

If I was to go down that path, what items would I need to get it up and running for imaging (including collimation tools)?

Thanks all.

Jacob.

Just a suggestion from a bonafide user of Newt reflectors for both visual and DSO imaging ….

How about an f6 and f5 Newt

I use 6” , 8” , 10” and 12”

Cost between $500 to $2500

Simple and cheap , a snack to collimate and a great all rounder from 750mm to 1250mm fl

If weight is an issue on an 8” or 10” you could go carbon fibre

My 10” is a carbon fibre, light as a feather

I would recommend the Skywatcher MN190, Mak-Newt. It's f5, fully corrected, 1000mm focal length. It is the best imaging scope I have owned, sorry I had to sell it. Not cheap like GSO newts, but you can find them occassionaly in the classified.
