Earthquake
I just felt the Earth move ... under my feet. But my world didn't come tumbling down. Sounds like a theme to a song
5.7 Magnitude move that is

Wow,
Nice size quake, USGC is currently listing at 5.8 38k south of Mount Buller at a depth of 10k. So fairly shallow.
The South Sandwich Islands went off last month, a day or two before the big one in Haiti last month. South Sandwich Islands registered an 8.1, 7.5 (7.1 later in the month) in the 48hours prior to Haiti.
658 4.5+ quakes for the South Sandwich Islands last month, the world register 1251 4.5+ for the month of August. In July the world registered 602 earthquakes at 4.5+. For such a small chain of islands that place must have been humming last month.

Definitely felt it in Melbourne and it went longer and stronger than previous quakes/tremors that I can recall experiencing many years ago. We bundled the team to outside quick smart!

Chinese sending us a warning not to be nuclear d!ckheads. Ooops, too late.
Was sitting at traffic lights here in Canberra and felt one of the aftershocks. Made the car move like some fatty was shifting weight side to side - I had to make sure it wasn't this fatty causing it.

Yep, a good shake here in Melbourne. Enough to topple one photo frame off the shelf and onto the floor here. Certainly a longer duration than the tremors that have passed through here on the odd occasion - long enough to recognise what is going on while it was indeed still going on.

It was a pretty decent shake here at Kilmore. As was mentioned above it went on long enough to work out what was happening, while it was still happening. There was none of this "Was that a tremor" stuff.
It was enough to produce a few creaks and groans from the wood frame of the house and get some plaster sheets rattling and all the pictures in the place moved around, it is an OCD nightmare in here today if you like your pictures hung right! All the others I can remember here basically just rattled the wine glasses.
And just when I was having my most productive morning of work all week!
