DSLR controller for Android: AWESOME !

Recently I downloaded DSLR Controller and installed it on my Galaxy S2.
I tried it out on my 40d but works nearly as good as the EOS Utility from Canon for OSX or Windows.
Nearly, as downloading images to the Android device is not supported yet but that is not a big deal.
It is now possible focusing on the (red foil wrapped) Android screen (with 10x) rather than a laptop, much more convenient. And presetting the exposure time for B(ulb).
It is still in beta but is usable.

Does somebody have experience with this ?

I've used a similar iPhone app called DSLR Remote which has some very nice functionality including live view & image review, the problem with any or all of these is the lack of intervalometer and long exposure control, simply being able to set existing camera shutter times i.e. the maximum value of 30 seconds or allowing manual shutter control is little more than a novelty. This app may have potential, but without image pre/review it's already behind other offerings and without decent interval/ shutter timer control it's as good as useless.

With the Wifi connected to you DSLR you can download pictures you take to your android tablet and use it to confirm focus as well plus a lot of other good functions as well ......

Just waiting on the TL-MR3040 to charge for the first time then flash the new firmware on to it then connect it to the canon 5D mark 3 and start taking pics from from our Android tablet with Qdslrdashboard ( Free ).

Hi Andrew,
You and others are welcome to join in !

I would hate to hear the price of a canon wifi Grip at least near the 1k mark !

At least I got a great wifi for my Canon 5D Mark 3 for $53 delivered ....
Battery is charged time to flash the firmware !

More updates later today .....

For The First time use it worked well !
Took about 10 mins to do the firmware hack .

Picture below is of the TLink MR-3040 connected to the mini USB port on the canon 5D Mark 2 with the canon cable that come with the camera.

App was Qdslrdashboard.

Works well have to fix a password and ssid

The TL-ML3040 has a 2000MAH battery in it .

I think its great. I've been using it for a while to control my camera using a 1st gen Nexus 7, and have had many happy hours of sitting under the stars while it does all the work

qdslrdashboard

A very useful AP.
Works with Nikon and does what Nikon charged $200+ (Camera Control 2)

I bought an Android Tablet for $99 from Kmart and a OTG cable from Jaycar.

I may try the WiFi connection later, but the simplicity of a cable appeals to me.

i have put the new iOS 8 on my iPhone and my iPad and now Qdslrdashboard when I click on the icon to start the app it tries to open then disappears ?
It worked fine with iOS 7 so hoping they release a fix for this soon.

Installed this on my Galaxy S3 very picky on if it works or not. Installed on S5 same deal. starts then stops. Often can't find the camera.
Yes I have to correct cable. Have emailed/reported issues. No one seems to want to help.
Installed Magic Lantern. No more issue. But yes it would be nice to control the camera remotely
